Huskies in Action/Team Kids

Huskies in Action Log

Huskies In Action is a school wide, year-long program that encourages students to get involved and make a difference in their community.  The program includes various events throughout the year:

Team Kids is a 5-week program in October-November that promotes students and community leaders working together.  Our 4th and 5th grade students have the opportunity to be Student Leaders …. brainstorming ideas and getting involved in local community issues.  The program concludes with a fun-filled school wide carnival.

The Great Kindness Challenge is in January, and encourages our students to do good deeds for fellow students, teachers, family members and members of the community.

The Husky Fair is in the spring.  This fun, one day event takes place after school.  Students have booths that sell homemade goods or have creative games.  Money raised goes to the non-profit organization of their choice … encouraging the kids to research community issues that are important to them and to learn more about them.

In addition to these events, we encourage students to come to us throughout the year with causes that are meaningful to them.  We then help them facilitate dates and get the word out around school, getting the whole student body involved.  Some examples of past individual projects include raising money for hurricane victims, organizing a beach clean-up day, and making birthday boxes for the homeless.  The goal of Huskies in Action and Team Kids is to empower our students to become the next generation of compassionate leaders!
